Audience Research - Digipaks

From this task we gained a clear insight as to what our target audience like, and what sort of things appeal to them most. This will be extremely useful when my group and I have to create our own digipak and magazine as we know what will cater to our audience the most.

Here is a copy of a questionnaire I created in  order to gather more data as to what our target audience like, when it comes to RnB digipaks and magazine advertisements  It includes a set of open ended questions as well as closed, to gain both qualitative data and quantitative. Another way in which we gathered qualitative data was through our audience research (structured) interview which we recorded.  I have also put the quantitative data in 3-D graphs to make our results easier to analyse.

Our research we carried out showed that the majority of our target audience are willing to pay £6-10 on a digipak.
The majority of the girls would like a discount on the artist's upcoming concert. However, most of the boys would like a poster of the artists, as well as a discount on the artist's upcoming concert.
As for colours, our audience would like to see light, bold, subtle colours on a digipak, however we will still include darker shades to conform to RnB conventions.

From the results from our questionnaire, we found that the majority of our target audience are willing to pay around £6-£10 for a digipak. My group and I are taking this into consideration when designing our own digipak as we have to take the quality and price of materials into account - If it costs alot to make, an increase in retail price would be necessary and therefore out of our target audience's price range.
A large percentage of our female audience chose to have a discount on an upcoming concert/tour, as their free gift. Our male audience equally preferred to have a large poster of the artist. Due to our target audience being both male and female, my group and I have agreed to include both free gifts in our own digipaks, to cater to a wider range of audiences.
The preferred colours chosen by our audience were soft subtle colours e.g. whites and pinks. These colours are often associated with women as it connotes femininity, which sits well with our band as we are a girl group.
According to our results, darker colours such as black and red were the second most popular colours for a digipak. These are common colours used within the RnB genre which is why my group and I decided to incorporate both colour schemes for our digipak (subtle colours - chosen by our audience & dark colours - to conform to RnB conventions).
