Lip Synchronising

Today my class and I practiced lip syncing. We were asked to get into pairs and randomly assign ourselves to a song to learn within 45 mins; oblivious to how hard this task would be, my partner and I chose Beyoncé - Love on Top. Learning the lyrics was the easy part and so was actually putting enthusiasm into the miming, however getting the lyrics right whilst being enthusiastic along with sharing the verses with my partner in time, was much harder than I thought.

Through this exercise, I learnt that lip syncing will take a lot of practice in order to look authentic. I've also learnt that the song you choose does have an impact on how easy or hard miming it correctly, will be. Additionally, I've gained knowledge on how to edit lip synchronisation in order to make smooth cuts and to add non-diagetic sound over the clip (the actual song). I found that if you actually sing whilst recording and then mute your voice and add your song on top, will heighten the realism of the emotions you put in and show.
